Pastor Bernard Caston Sr., was born in Magnolia, Mississippi and grew up in Fernwood, Mississppi and was aware at a very young age when baptized at the age of 11 years old that he was called into the ministry, but refused the calling. Pastor Caston moved to San Jose, California shortly after graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in Summit, Mississippi in 1964. Shortly after his relocation to San Jose, California in the year of 1965 Pastor Caston went into the U.S. Army where he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Ater his discharge in 1968 he met the love of his life Christine Thomas in San Jose, California and after a brief courship the two were married on November 14 1970 and from their marriage two children, Bernard Jr. and Ta'Lana were born. But still he knew that God's calling was on him. After many years of this avoidance he accepted the calling in December 1990 and started to study the word of God for many hours.
After approximately 5 years of intense bible study, in 1995, Pastor Caston was led by the Holy Spirit to first teach the Word of God to his wife and children, whom all received salvation and are born-again Christians. In setting an example of the importance of families receiving God's salvation, Pastor Caston was led to teach the bible in the homes of believers who were seeking wisdom and understanding of the word of God so that they may apply it to present life situations and challenges.
By 1998, Pastor Caston, along with his faithful wife Christine Caston, taught bible study in the homes of families from San Jose to Sacramento.
In the year of 2005, Pastor Caston received the calling of a Pastor and Teacher through the voice of the Holy Spirit that said: - Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and who he justified, them he also glorified- Romans 8:30 (KJV) On November 7, 2006 Pastor Caston was selected, appointed, empowered and ordained the credential of minister. In response to the voice of God, he formed a ministry and named it: "Good News Ministries". By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Caston's calling is to teach and preach the Word of God to all creatures and to all nations so that they may discover the awesome direction in which God wants them to go. The entire mission of the ministry hangs on the scripture that is written in the book of Psalm 119:105 that speaks of God's word being the compass, the instruction manual for our lives.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105 KJV)
